But I’m here to tell you that you no longer have to be a victim of this negativity…

You can harness the power of affirmations to turn your life around and help you say goodbye to everything holding you back so that you can press forward with the life you deserve.

In this article, I am going to present you with 30 different affirmations for letting go.

The aim of each affirmation is to help you to let go of negative thoughts and emotions from your past so that you can enjoy the here and now, and face your new future with hope and confidence.

But before we get to that, let’s talk about how important it is to leave negativity behind you, before discussing just how affirmations can help you, and how exactly to use these affirmations.

The Importance Of Letting Go

Life is not static. Time is pushing all of us forward.

And life is short. What’s more, most of us believe that we only have one life.

Ideally, you should live this life to the fullest and chase your dreams.

Your future is there for the taking.

Are you really going to let anything hold you back and stop you getting the life you were born to live? The life you deserve.

There could be any number of things you need to let go of. You may need to let go of toxic people in your life. You may need to let go of regret. You may need to let go of worry or fear.

You may need to let go of the need to control things in your life. You may need to let go of something that was once very meaningful to you, and that can be hard.

Or you may simply need to stop ruminating on events in your past that affect how you see yourself. This alone can be painful enough. You may harbor ill will to yourself or others, and this can take a toll on your health.

Let’s address some of these needs to let go.

Letting Go Of Toxic People In Your Life

Sometimes we end up in toxic relationships. We don’t always see the toxicity straight away, and despite the toxicity it can be easy to feel very close to a toxic person who only brings negativity to a relationship, or has a Jekyll and Hyde nature.

But once you’ve established that this person is toxic, you owe it to yourself to break your bond with this person, and instead foster the relationships you have with more caring, loving and positive individuals.

Letting Go Of Worry Or Fear Of The Need To Control

You can prepare for the future to the best of your ability, but unfortunately, that’s not always enough to prevent anxiety and worry.

You have to accept that you simply cannot control everything, try as you might. The universe has its own plans for you. Once you’ve prepared all you can, all you can do is move forward and see where things take you.

You have to trust you will always be in the right place at the right time. The universe has a plan for you.

Letting Go Of The Past

The past can haunt us. It can remind us of our mistakes. It can make us feel worthless. It can come into our nightmares. It can dominate your thoughts and day to day life.

It can make us believe that we can’t change, and that we’re doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

But I’m here to tell you that that’s BS!

You certainly aren’t worthless. And you’re not doomed to repeat past mistakes. You hold your future in your hands, and now you have the opportunity to go forth and live the life you deserve.

Live your life, meet new people, chase your dreams. That’s what’s waiting for you once you’ve let go.

How These Affirmations Can Help You To Let Go

Words carry meaning, and in them there is power. When you believe the words of these affirmations, and how they apply to you, you hold their power.

They can empower you to put your past behind you and bring your focus instead to the here and now, helping you to let go of any negative emotions that might be holding you back, so that you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

How To Use The Affirmations

Choosing Your Preferred Affirmations

The way I would go about selecting which affirmations to use, is to read all the affirmations provided. Ideally, you will read them out loud.

When you read them, pay attention to how you feel when you say them. Notice if they feel believable. Notice if they feel appropriate. Notice if they feel beneficial. You might find that one or two of them really speak to you and your particular circumstances.

Then grab some paper and a pen, and write down all the affirmations that meet these criteria. You should only select affirmations that you can actually believe. If you say, read, or think of the affirmations with irony, then they will not work.

If more than one affirmation appeals to you, this is fine. In fact, it’s natural. You can use several.

How Often To Use Your Affirmations

Affirmations work by using them repeatedly. Ideally, this will be through reading them out loud several times each day. The more frequently the better, until you no longer need them anymore.

However, if you find yourself in circumstances where it may appear odd if you were to say the affirmations out loud, then simply saying them in your head is almost as effective.

There is no hard and fast rule about how often you should say or think your affirmations, but as I said earlier, the more frequently the better. And at a minimum, I would recommend once a day.

Making Your Affirmations Visible

I also recommend making your chosen affirmations visible. Have them written down or typed somewhere where you will be able to see them often.

For example, you could put them on a post-it note in your home office, or on your smartphone so that you always have it to hand.

The more frequently your mind turns to the chosen affirmation/s, the stronger you will believe them and the greater the courage of your convictions. And you will be empowered to move forward, effectively forgetting all the negativity and leaving it far behind.
